Job summary

The candidate will lead an externally funded program, mentor students and faculty, and collaborate across disciplines within the Tulane Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Start date negotiable; applications due November 1, 2026.

Qualifications

• Earned doctoral or terminal degree in the field.
• Scholarly record and academic leadership suitable for tenure at Tulane.
• Exceptional national/international distinction in research or scholarship.
• Proven track record securing independent extramural funding as PI or lead investigator.
• Strong teaching, mentorship, and outreach record at senior rank.
• Commitment to service and academic leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and sustain a nationally and/or internationally recognized research program; secure independent extramural funding.
• Teach in the school's programs and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and junior faculty.
• Build collaborations across disciplines and with public health, clinical, governmental, community partners.
• Provide leadership and service to the department, school, university, and profession appropriate to a senior faculty appointment.
