The Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications from creative investigators whose work will define the next generation of genetic discovery and translation to human health.
We seek Ph.D.- and/or M.D.-trained scientists to establish independent programs and contribute to a collaborative scientific community, with opportunities to mentor trainees across computational, experimental, and cross-disciplinary research.
Build an ambitious genetics and genomics program in one of the field's most integrated research environments.
The Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications from creative, collaborative investigators whose work will define the next generation of genetic discovery and its translation to human health. We welcome applications at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level from established leaders and rising investigators in computational, experimental, or genuinely cross-disciplinary research.
We seek Ph.D.- and/or M.D.-trained scientists with a record of rigorous, high-impact scholarship and the potential to sustain an externally funded research program. Successful candidates will establish an independent program, contribute to a highly collaborative scientific community, and participate in the education and mentorship of trainees. Research may address rare or common disease, fundamental genetic and genomic mechanisms, technology development, or other major questions in biology and medicine.
Candidates who connect computation and experiment, or who create platforms that enable such integration, are especially encouraged to apply.
The Department brings physicians, experimental scientists, quantitative researchers, clinical laboratories, and trainees into a shared genetics and genomics mission. Its research programs span genome sequencing and interpretation, computational and integrative biomedicine, model-organism and precision disease modeling, neurogenetics, cancer, aging, developmental biology, metabolism, genome stability, multiomics diagnostics, gene and genome editing, and clinical investigation. Departmental programs participate in major NIH and industry consortia and support work from fundamental mechanism to diagnostic innovation, preclinical development, and clinical research.
Human Genome Sequencing Center; large-scale sequencing, analytical pipelines, clinical-grade genomics, long-read and multi-omic programs.
Bioinformatics Research Laboratory and Computational and Integrative Biomedical Research Center, with quantitative programs, software engineering, data clinics, and cross-institutional collaborations.
Cross-species genetics and deeply phenotyped human, mouse, fly, yeast, bacterial, cellular, iPSC, organoid, and other disease models.
Baylor Genetics, the Medical Genetics Multiomics Laboratory, the Undiagnosed Diseases Center, rare-disease consortia, specialty clinics, and clinical research infrastructure.
Genome editing, gene and RNA therapy, preclinical model resources, target discovery, and pathways to clinical investigation and technology transfer.
Genetics and Genomics Ph.D. training, quantitative and interdisciplinary graduate programs, postdoctoral training, medical genetics residencies, and laboratory fellowships.
Appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Baylor College of Medicine and the Department offer competitive recruitment packages and resources to launch or expand an outstanding research program. Qualified candidates may also be eligible for recruitment support through the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. Additional opportunities may emerge through the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.
Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity, Affinity and Equal Access Employer.
As part of the recruitment process, Baylor College of Medicine may conduct reference and background checks, including verification of credentials and degrees and review of professional-misconduct history.
