Job summary

Auburn University is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics to begin August 2027. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Spanish Linguistics and a strong research agenda with interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities across projects.

The department seeks someone with native or near-native Spanish and English, proven teaching ability, and a plan for future scholarship. The position includes a 3-2 teaching load, courses in Spanish for the Professions, and graduate courses in

Qualifications

• PhD in Spanish Linguistics (Sociolinguistics or Applied Sociolinguistics or related field) at start of employment.
• Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.
• Strong record of effective teaching at the college/university level.
• Well-developed plan of research and scholarship; interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person: yearly Spanish Teaching Methodology graduate course, undergraduate Spanish language courses with focus on Spanish for the Professions, and graduate courses in Spanish linguistics.
• Maintain an active research program and contribute to curricular innovation.
• Participate in departmental and university service; demonstrate excellent communication skills.
