Job summary

Cornell University’s Department of Performing and Media Arts seeks an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Scenic and Lighting Design for a tenure-track position beginning July 1, 2027. The candidate will teach and mentor undergraduates across a range of courses in Production Design, Set Design, Worldbuilding, Lighting for Theatre and Dance, Lighting for Film, and Projection Design.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching across scenic and lighting design topics.
• Ability to mentor undergraduate students.
• Engagement with professional practice and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• Teach the equivalent of two courses each semester across design areas.
• Mentor students in department productions and student projects.
• Develop courses and contribute to an international or national profile aligned with Research I standards.
