University of Maryland, College Park, through its Department of Philosophy and the Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Institute (AIM), invites applications for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor specializing in AI Ethics or AI Safety.

The role requires building a normative/conceptual research program and teaching undergraduates and graduate students, with active involvement in the new Human-Centered AI program.

Formación

• Education: PhD or equivalent in Philosophy or related field by time of appointment.
• Experience: 2 years of research in AI Ethics or AI Safety as primary areas; some university teaching experience.
• Preference: Ability to contribute teaching for the Human-Centered AI BA program, including its technical core.

Responsabilidades

• Teach both undergraduate and graduate students in our PhD program.
• Maintain an active research program with normative/conceptual engagement with AI.
• Contribute to the department’s HCAI core and develop cross-cutting offerings at the AI-philosophy intersection.
• Engage in departmental, university, and professional service.
