Job summary

San José State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Physiology in the Department of Biological Sciences, beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach foundational and advanced physiology courses, develop an independent research program, and mentor undergraduate and masters students.

Qualifications

PhD in Physiology or a related discipline.
Post-doctoral experience in physiology or a related field.
Publication record reflective of the candidate’s professional experience and the potential to become an excellent teacher-scholar.
Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population.

Responsibilities

Develop a research program and mentor masters and undergraduate students.
Teach undergraduate and graduate physiology courses (e.g., Cell Physiology, Systems Physiology, Endocrine Physiology, Advanced Human Anatomy).
Contribute to curriculum development and department service.
Engage in scholarly activity and seek extramural funding.
Commit to inclusive teaching and advising diverse student populations.
