Job summary

San José State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Occupational Therapy beginning August 2027. The ideal candidate will teach in the MSOT and OTD programs, contribute to scholarship, and engage in university and community partnerships.

We seek clinical experts with a passion for teaching, program leadership, and interprofessional collaboration, who can support diverse student populations and advance the university’s mission in health sciences

Qualifications

• Earned research and/or clinical doctorate in Occupational Therapy, Occupational Science, or related field, and at least two years of clinical experience.
• Eligible for occupational therapy licensure in California.
• Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and to engage with community partnerships.
• Experience with diverse student populations and cross-cultural engagement.

Responsibilities

• Teach practice courses and courses related to current and emerging practice areas.
• Contribute to scholarship and service to the university and profession.
• Mentor students in MSOT and OTD programs and participate in governance and committees.
• Organize courses within the Canvas LMS and promote inclusive teaching practices.
