Middlebury College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics starting Fall 2027. A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field is normally required by time of appointment.

The successful candidate will teach core mathematics and statistics, contribute to cross-disciplinary electives, and advise students while engaging in undergraduate research. The role includes a substantial teaching load with responsibilities across the First Year

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field normally in hand by time of appointment.
• Experience teaching core courses in mathematics and statistics and ability to create cross-disciplinary electives.
• Ability to advise, mentor, and teach courses at all levels.
• Capacity to include undergraduates in their research.
• Participation in Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings.
• Commitment to service to the College including committee work and potential leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Teach core mathematics and statistics courses and develop cross-disciplinary electives.
• Advise and mentor students, guiding research and independent projects.
• Contribute to service through committees and department leadership as requested.
• Support and implement teaching load expectations and program responsibilities during Fall 2027 and beyond.
