Job summary

LaGuardia Community College Library invites applications for an Instruction Librarian. This on-campus, tenure-track role emphasizes learner-centered pedagogy and the ACRL Information Literacy Framework to teach transferable information literacy concepts and cultivate inclusive learning environments.

The instructor/assistant professor will deliver information literacy instruction, provide reference services, and collaborate across the library and academic programs to support student success.

Qualifications

• At least one year of relevant teaching or library instruction experience.
• Familiarity with lesson-building tools and Brightspace course management.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Expertise in digital humanities, ethical AI use, data literacy, or scholarly communication.
• Excellent oral and written communication, and ability to work across levels.

Responsibilities

• Teach one-shot, course-related information literacy classes, and drop-in workshops.
• Provide reference services in-person, chat, email, and consultations.
• Collaborate with Library Instruction Coordinator to schedule and assess classes.
• Develop teaching materials in multiple modalities.
• Support scholarly communication efforts within and outside the department.
• Produce scholarly research and participate in academic service via committees.
• Serve as liaison librarian to academic programs and assist in collection development.
• Teach library credit course as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chairperson.
