Job summary

LMU’s Department of Urban and Environmental Studies seeks two tenure-line faculty in urban studies with expertise in urban planning or geography to begin August 2027. One appointment at Assistant Professor and one at Assistant/Associate Professor will be made based on experience. The department prioritizes inclusive excellence and community engagement.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. by August 2027; ABD considered.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in urban studies, planning, geography, or closely related field by August 2027; ABD considered.
• Ability to teach lower- and upper-division courses in urban studies.
• Strong background in urban planning and/or urban geography.
• Commitment to inclusive excellence and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Teach lower-division and upper-division courses in urban studies, including introductory, urban planning, and geography courses.
• Maintain an active program of scholarship and advise undergraduate students.
• Engage in department and university service and LMU Core Curriculum initiatives.
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary and community-engaged teaching and research.
