Job summary

The University of Portland invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering in the Shiley School of Engineering to begin January 4, 2027 or August 15, 2027.

Candidates should have a terminal degree in electrical engineering, teaching experience, and the potential for scholarly research. The role includes teaching undergrad courses, advising students, and participating in committees, with a nine‑month academic year.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent in electrical engineering or related field
• Teaching or instructional experience
• For appointment at Associate Professor rank: achievement of tenure at an accredited college or university
• Preferred: experience teaching undergraduate engineering courses
• Preferred: expertise in digital systems design, embedded systems, and computer architecture

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate electrical engineering courses and participate in service courses such as Engineering Fundamentals and multidisciplinary capstone projects
• Advise undergraduate students and participate in faculty committees
• Engage in scholarly research leading to publications in peer‑reviewed journals
• Contribute to the Shiley School of Engineering and UP through service and collaboration
