Job summary

North Carolina Central University in Durham seeks an open-rank, tenure-track faculty member within the Special Education Program of the School of Education. The role emphasizes graduate courses in visual impairment and orientation and mobility taught face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

The successful candidate will supervise clinical experiences, contribute to accreditation, engage in scholarship, and support student advising and service activities.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Special Education or related field with primary specialization in visual impairment and/or orientation and mobility. ABD will be considered.
• ACVREP Certification in Orientation & Mobility and/or Assistive Technology preferred.
• NC Teaching License or eligibility for NC Teaching License.

Responsibilities

• Effective teaching of graduate courses in visual impairment/orientation and mobility, in-person, hybrid, and online.
• Supervision of clinical field experiences and supervision of practicum and internship; engagement in curriculum development and accreditation maintenance.
• Research and scholarship leading to publications and presentations at conferences; grant funding development.
• Student advisement and participation in school and university service; involvement in professional activities and organizational leadership.
