Job summary

James Madison University invites applications for a 10-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Developmental Biology with an anticipated start date August 2027. The successful candidate will build an externally funded research program, mentor undergraduates, and contribute to teaching core biology and biotechnology courses.

The appointee will develop upper-level animal development courses with labs for majors and pre-professional students, explore course-based undergraduate research

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Developmental Biology or related field with emphasis on comparative and evolutionary biology.
• Post-doctoral experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an externally funded research program mentoring and co-authoring with students.
• Teach core biology and biotechnology courses and develop upper-level animal development courses with a lab.
• Provide opportunities to create course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs).
