Job summary

Widener University in Chester, PA invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Computer Science tenure-track beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach three to four courses per semester, advise students, and participate in committees. Applicants must hold a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience and commitment to excellence in teaching at the college level.

• Active in research in their field of interest.
• Highest degree from an accredited university or college.

Responsibilities

• Teach lecture classes for first- and second-year Computer Science majors and non-majors.
• Teach upper-level electives for junior and senior Computer Science majors and non-majors.
• Develop course materials and assessments that foster critical thinking and content mastery.
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain regular weekly office hours to provide academic support and guidance to students enrolled in assigned courses.
• To be active in research in their field of interest and involve students in research.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Attend division, College, and University faculty meetings and contribute to department initiatives.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned and participate in the intellectual life of the Department, the College, and the University.
