Job summary

The University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Primary duties include teaching organic chemistry and non-major chemistry courses while developing an active undergraduate research program and providing service to the department.

A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or closely related field is required; ABD considered at Instructor rank if the degree is completed by the end of the first year. Start Jan 2027 or Aug 2027.

Qualifications

• PhD in organic chemistry or closely related discipline is required.
• ABD status will be considered at Instructor rank if the doctoral degree is completed by the end of the first year.
• If employment starts January 2027, terminal degree must be completed by December 2026; if August 2027, by July 2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach organic chemistry and chemistry classes for non-majors (e.g., allied health, general education).
• Establish a vigorous undergraduate research program in chemistry.
