Job summary

Baylor University, in the Department of English, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies, with specializations including technical communication, emerging technologies and AI, grant writing, nonprofit and community writing, and writing across the curriculum.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate rhetoric and writing courses, potentially graduate courses, and First-Year Writing.

Qualifications

• PhD in rhetoric and composition/writing studies or related discipline in hand by August 1, 2027.
• Evidence of a productive research agenda in rhetoric and composition/writing studies.
• Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience in rhetoric and composition/writing studies or related area.
• Experience teaching advanced writing and rhetoric courses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate rhetoric and writing courses in the Professional Writing and Rhetoric major.
• Possibly teach courses in Rhetoric and Composition in the graduate program and in the First-Year Writing Program.
• Establish and maintain a productive research agenda and engage in department, university, and profession service.
• Seek external funding to support research.
• Demonstrate a faith commitment and active spiritual life as Baylor is a Christian university.
