Job description

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track position with an 11-month academic appointment; The anticipated start date for the position is Fall 2026. Applications will be accepted at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualification.

Candidates pursuing internationally recognized research in basic/fundamental or clinical research with a focus on geriatrics, aging, including healthy aging, or neurodegenerative disorders are encouraged to apply. The use of multidisciplinary approaches and research topics that complement those of the existing research groups is an asset. We are particularly interested in self-driven, motivated candidates that can supplement expertise to our current research portfolio that includes work on neural circuitry, stress neurobiology and neuroimmunology, psychiatric genetics and epigenetics, neuroimaging, and clinical trials.

Expectations for successful candidates include developing an externally funded research program, teaching graduate and/or medical level courses, and engaging in activities outside teaching and research as part of the department's service expectations. This is an exciting opportunity for new hires to be a part of a rapidly growing department with fundamental, translational, and clinical research focus areas.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine provides many opportunities to recruit trainees through graduate programs in Medical Science (https://medicine.tamu.edu/medical-sciences/index.html) and participation in exciting interdepartmental doctoral programs, including Genetics (https://genetics.tamu.edu/) and Neuroscience (https://tamin.tamu.edu/).
