Job summary

The Ohio State University invites applications for a joint Tenure Track Assistant Professor appointment in AI applications to advanced manufacturing, with potential early Associate Professor consideration. The position will start as early as Fall 2027.

The appointment is shared between the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with research spanning AI/ML, digital twins, sensor fusion and manufacturing systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering with strong AI/ML research in manufacturing.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML and connection to manufacturing.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed venues.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; mentoring ability.
• Ability to collaborate across ISE and MAE and with industry partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI methods to monitor, predict, optimize, and automate manufacturing processes.
• Publish in peer-reviewed journals and conferences; provide service to the department.
• Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in AI/ML and intelligent manufacturing.
• Pursue external funding and foster interdisciplinary collaborations.
