Job summary

Invited in Houston is seeking a Tennis Professional to deliver an exceptional tennis experience for members. You will organize clinics, private lessons, and events, promoting tennis memberships and acting as the club's tennis ambassador.

The role requires coaching at a competitive or professional level, USPTA/PTR certification, and the ability to manage leagues and social events while maintaining club facilities and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience playing, instructing, or coaching tennis at a competitive level.
  • 1 year experience conducting group clinics or instructional programs.
  • 1 year experience organizing social events for members.
  • USPTA or PTR certification is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and promote engaging tennis clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors.
  • Provide instruction for private and group lessons with drills for development and enjoyment.
  • Organize and promote leagues, round-robin events, ladders, tournaments, and community events.
  • Optimize use of club tennis facilities to minimize attrition and attract new members.
  • Assist members with tennis needs while ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Conduct tennis orientation for new members and introduce facilities and programs.
  • Interact professionally with members and guests and handle last‑minute requests.
  • Maintain courts to a high standard and ensure a safe environment.
  • Complete daily assignments and maintain organized workspaces.

Job Summary

The Tennis Professional delivers an exceptional tennis experience for members and guests, organizing clinics, private lessons, and events that encourage participation. The role promotes tennis memberships, serves as the club’s tennis ambassador, and enhances overall club value.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Head Tennis Professional or Racquet Sports Director
Day to Day
  • Design and promote engaging tennis clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors.
  • Provide instruction for private and group lessons, using drills to promote player development and enjoyment.
  • Help organize and promote leagues, round‑robin events, drop‑in sessions, ladders, tournaments, and other community events.
  • Optimize use of club tennis facilities to minimize attrition and attract new members.
  • Assist members with tennis needs while ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Conduct tennis orientation for new members, introducing facilities and programs.
  • Interact professionally with members and guests, accommodating last‑minute requests as needed.
  • Maintain courts to a high standard, ensuring a safe environment for all users.
  • Ensure daily assignments are completed, maintain orderly workspaces, arrange equipment, and manage trash and debris.
Additional Duties
  • Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions.
  • Follow safe working practices and encourage compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Take initiative in personal and professional growth, maintaining required certifications.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams.
  • Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience playing, instructing, or coaching tennis at a competitive or professional level, preferably in a club or sports facility setting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting group tennis clinics, private lessons, or instructional programs for players of varying skill levels.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience organizing and running social events for members.
  • Recognized certification from a reputable tennis organization (e.g., USPTA or PTR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree or equivalent.
  • Strong experience with ROGY programs.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role, preferably in a sports or recreation environment, focused on delivering exceptional service.
  • Experience promoting tennis programs, lessons, and memberships to drive engagement.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with people of all ages and abilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
  • Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
  • Talking, hearing, and seeing.
