American Golf Corporation in Los Angeles is hiring a Tennis Professional to deliver high‑quality tennis instruction and help manage club programs. You will assist with private lessons, group programs, junior tennis, leagues, and clinics, while supporting tournament operations and tennis shop tasks.

You’ll work under the Tennis Director, engage members, promote participation, and contribute to program development, staffing, and administrative duties within a vibrant, service‑driven club

Qualifications

  • USPTA membership preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience teaching tennis.
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Basic math proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsabilités

  • Assist in organizing, promoting, and overseeing all tennis instruction (private lessons, group programs, junior tennis, leagues, clinics).
  • Collaborate on preparation, staging, rules, formats for club competitions and tournaments.
  • Support tennis shop operations: check-ins, reservations, POS transactions, end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Supervise tennis operations staff: interview hires, training, scheduling, performance evaluations.
  • Assist with budget prep, reports, and reconciliations for tennis programs.
  • Market and promote tennis programs through campaigns, events, and member engagement.
  • Oversee tennis merchandise operations: purchasing, pricing, promotions, inventory, cost-of-sales reporting.
  • Support and implement AGC initiatives and management directives.

Job Purpose

The Tennis Professional supports the overall tennis program by providing high-quality instruction, assisting with tournament operations, and contributing to the daily supervision of tennis shop activities. This role engages actively with members and guests, strengthens program participation, and supports the Tennis Director with administrative duties, staff oversight, and creative program development. Under the direction of the Tennis Director, the Tennis Professional seeks innovative opportunities to expand awareness, engagement, and growth within the tennis program.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in organizing, promoting, and overseeing all tennis instruction, including private lessons, group programs, junior tennis, leagues, and clinics.
  • Ensure the success of club competitions and tournaments by collaborating with the Tennis Director or Event Coordinator on preparation, staging, scoreboards, rules, and formats.
  • Support tennis shop operations by performing or supervising daily tasks such as:
    • Checking in members and guests
    • Taking court reservations and communicating court fees
    • Maximizing reservation utilization through techniques such as double-booking, credit card guarantees, callbacks, tournaments, and targeted selling
    • Using the POS system to process purchases, credit card transactions, and league/tournament entries
    • Answering telephones in accordance with ACE/AGC standards
    • Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked shop
    • Completing opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation
  • Assist in the supervision of tennis operations staff by interviewing candidates, recommending hires, overseeing orientation and training, scheduling, evaluating performance, and administering discipline in accordance with AGC policies and applicable laws.
  • Support administrative functions by contributing to annual departmental budget preparation, generating daily/weekly/monthly reports, and preparing tournament/league financial reconciliations.
  • Market and promote tennis programs through creative campaigns, special events, advertising, and member engagement initiatives.
  • Oversee tennis merchandise operations, including purchasing, pricing, display, promotions, discounts, inventory counts, and cost-of-sales reporting.
  • Support and implement all AGC initiatives and management directives.

Working Conditions
  • Work schedule varies based on program needs; evening, weekend, and holiday shifts required.
  • Duties may require extended standing, walking, climbing, balancing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
