• Facility & Equipment Management: Prepare courts and equipment; inspect and maintain safety of courts; report damages.
• Participant Engagement & Community Building: Foster welcoming environment; encourage engagement from participants and families; identify volunteers.
• Communication & Collaboration: Share program schedules, stay informed about YMCA SF resources, collaborate with staff to improve member experience.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Tennis Coordinator and the Director of Healthy Living, the Tennis Instructor provides instruction in one-on-one, semi-private, and group settings. The role involves developing and leading tennis programs that align with participants' goals and skill levels, while promoting an engaging and positive environment. The Tennis Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, supporting skill development, and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.

Job Responsibilities

Program Administration & Record-Keeping

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The work environment is both indoor and outdoor, with activities conducted in varying weather conditions. The Tennis Coordinator will engage with participants, staff, and volunteers in a community-focused setting. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require adapting to different programming needs and schedules, including both individual, semi-private, and group lessons. The dynamic nature of the work requires the ability to manage various conditions while maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere.

The physical demands for this position involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and demonstrating tennis techniques for extended periods. The Tennis Coordinator must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The role also requires frequent movement, bending, and reaching, as well as the ability to quickly respond to emergencies. Flexibility is needed to work in various weather conditions, and the ability to lead lessons for individuals, semi-private groups, and larger group settings is essential.
