Job description

A well-established orthopedic and neurosurgical group serving eastern Tennessee is looking for a fellowship-trained Interventional Physiatrist to join their growing team. This practice has been a pillar of the region for over 50 years and is now part of a nationally affiliated orthopaedic network, adding national reach to deep local roots. PM&R has a real seat at the table here. You’d be stepping in as a principal player/leader in their spine care program, not a supporting role.

A procedure-driven role built around interventional pain management, with a strong referral base from orthopedic and neurosurgical colleagues across multiple locations. You’ll have a full, varied patient panel from day one. You will own the non-operative and interventional side of spine and pain care for this busy practice.

We focus on acute and chronic pain across nociceptive and neuropathic presentations arising from injury, surgery, cancer, and illness, within a group that has built a dedicated Spine Center of Excellence. Procedures include:

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks
  • Spinal cord stimulator trials and placements
  • Full scope of interventional spine care

The emphasis is on skilled procedural work, not medication management.

Collaborate closely with Neurosurgeons and orthopedic specialists covering spine, joint replacement, and sports medicine. This group cares for patients across their entire lives, from acute injury through complex surgical recovery, and they want a physiatrist who fits that continuum.

We offer a highly competitive package structured to match the leadership and clinical contribution.

A fellowship in Pain Management or Sports Medicine is preferred, or substantial hands‑on interventional experience.

Eastern Tennessee sits in the Appalachian foothills and it’s a genuinely good place to live. Hiking, fishing, and whitewater are close. Our region and towns offer solid food scenes, university culture, and regional sports enthusiasm without the congestion of larger cities. Cost of living is low. Physicians who want a serious practice and actually enjoy where they live tend to stay here.
