Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a construction engineer for our Field Services team in Nashville, TN. You will support infrastructure projects from design to built, ensuring quality and adherence to specs through field coordination and data tracking.

Required are a bachelor's degree, PE license, and 3+ years in construction engineering; proficiency with estimating, CPM scheduling, MS Office, and collaborative tools; strong communication and a proactive, employee-owned mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
• Professional engineering license recognized by licensing board (e.g., PE).
• 3+ years of construction engineering experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Estimating & CPM Scheduling Software, and web-based document collaboration software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Position Summary

As part of HDR's Field Services team, you will be on the front lines of infrastructure development, ensuring that what is designed is built to the highest standards. From highways and bridges to water treatment plants, transit systems, and power facilities, your work guarantees that clients’ visions become reality with precision, integrity, and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex construction assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard construction engineering techniques and procedures.
• Conduct project field coordination, documentation, cost monitoring, bidding and scheduling.
• Receive, issue and track RFIs, submittals and other required data.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Road and bridge construction experience highly desired.
• TDOT experience.
• Industry certifications.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in construction engineering.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field.
• Previous construction engineering experience.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer license).
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Estimating & CPM Scheduling Software, and web-based document collaboration software.

Primary location: United States – Tennessee – Nashville. Other locations include Tennessee‑Jackson and Tennessee‑Memphis. Full‑time Regular employee status.
