Job summary

Joliet Public Schools District 86 Building Support Services – Joliet, Illinois seeks a Temporary Task Force Custodian to support school facilities. The role runs 12 months, 8-hour shifts, non-exempt, with an hourly rate of $16.25 for the 2024/2025 period.

The duties include maintaining cleanliness, performing routine custodial tasks, and assisting with training new staff. Candidates should have a high school diploma and prior custodial experience in schools or similar environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in custodial services preferred in schools or similar environments.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic custodial techniques and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Report to the engineer and supervisor before starting work.
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas as directed by the principal/head custodian.
• Monitor and report supplies/equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Attend in-service training and assist in training new personnel.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks including mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
• Move, install or assemble furniture as needed and assist with snow/ice removal.
