Job summary

The Kent School District invites applications for a Paraeducator Guest Staff position. This temporary hourly assignment supports students across Kent school locations with a pay rate of $26.49 - $27.80 per hour and district employee benefits.

Responsibilities include assisting in instruction (general and special education), progress monitoring, and supporting teachers with implementing programs and materials. Strong communication and reliability are required to work with diverse students.

Qualifications

• Proof of High School completion
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Background check through Washington State Patrol; RCW 43.43.830; fees apply
• Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision and follow a provided lesson plan
• Ability to relate to a diverse student population and communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive learning environment and relate to students, parents, and colleagues.
• Assist in small group or one-on-one instruction and record student progress.
• Assist in delivering education programs and testing materials for general, special, Title, LAP and Multilingual education.
• Utilize escalation prevention and de-escalation techniques.
• Interact with students and discuss identified concerns with the classroom teacher or staff.
• Present and implement behavior management programs as directed by the teacher; assist with eloping students.
• Address student educational goals and personal needs, including basic self-care tasks as needed.
• Assist in regular and special education classrooms; complete and maintain relevant records and data collection.
• Assist students and teachers as needed.
