Job summary

The Speech Language Pathologist I, II, or III – Temporary at the Oklahoma State Department of Health in Purcell provides diagnostic and therapeutic services in speech and language, including social communication, speech sounds, and feeding/swallowing. Services are delivered in the child’s natural environment with screenings, evaluations, intervention, and parent education.

Work involves collaboration with families, an interdisciplinary team, and documentation of progress.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with practicum requirements for ASHA certification
  • Licensed by the State of Oklahoma
  • Level III requires additional post-certification experience or Supervisory Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provides early intervention services in the child and family’s natural environment (home, childcare, park)
  • Conducts intakes and assessments to determine appropriate services
  • Evaluates and treats children with suspected developmental communication delays
  • Collaborates with families to set goals and develop intervention plans
  • Coaches caregivers on implementing strategies to increase communication
  • Provides services in the child’s native language via interpreters when needed
  • Maintains progress notes and IFSPs and participates in interdisciplinary teams
  • Performs hearing screenings and makes referrals as appropriate
