The Park School in Brookline, MA seeks a Temporary School Counselor to join the Middle and Upper Divisions during a February–June leave. The counselor will provide short-term counseling, assess student needs, and coordinate supports to help students thrive academically and emotionally.

The role emphasizes collaboration with families, teachers, and specialists, maintaining confidential records, and guiding interventions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.
• Massachusetts licensure or certification preferred.
• At least two years of experience with elementary or middle school students.
• Strong understanding of child/adolescent development and counseling practices.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students and collaborate effectively with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsabilités

• Provide short-term individual and small-group counseling.
• Assess student needs and refer to outside providers or longer-term supports when appropriate.
• Collaborate with families, teachers, administrators, learning specialists, and other members of the Student Support Team.
• Consult with faculty regarding student social-emotional needs, classroom dynamics, and strategies for supporting individual students.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and communicate relevant information while respecting student privacy and confidentiality.
• Utilize available student data, observations, and consultation to identify emerging needs and inform interventions and programming.
• Provide support and consultation in response to emerging student concerns and school-based crises.
• Meet expectations as defined by The Park School Employee Essential Expectations.
