Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within the Education and Training Division of the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

The primary purpose of the Temporary Research Assistant is to observe and assist on research laboratory experiments and protocols and assist on research studies.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

  • Develops a first-hand understanding of scientific methods and research in cancer.
  • Interacts with a diverse group of undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and faculty.
  • Works as a team member on an existing research study or to develop and conduct their own individual research under the supervision of the faculty advisor.
  • Attends professional development workshops, seminars, lectures and other events (annual symposium, lab meetings etc.) associated with the Rutgers Youth Enjoy Science ( RUYES ) program.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute core values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Sitting, Standing, Walking, Reaching, Kneeling, Talking and Hearing.
  • No special vision requirements.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds.
WORKENVIRONMENT :
  • Lab environment with moderate noise.
  • Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
  • Universal precautions are mandatory.
