Job summary

Nexus Family Healing in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Temporary Relief Youth Care Professional to join our Walden Crossing program on-site. This role supports youths aged 10-17 with mental and developmental disabilities who are involved in the justice system, working under high staff-to-youth ratios and with access to 24/7 nursing and therapeutic services.

Shifts available include 1st 7:00am-5:30pm, 2nd 2:00pm-12:30am, and 3rd 11:30pm-8:00am, with a pay rate of $23.00+ per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Desire to work in human services and care for at-risk youth.
• Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals and communities.

Responsibilities

• Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by guiding residents in daily living activities.
• Mentor and supervise residents' daily activities and behavior per guidelines.
• Collaborate with coworkers to implement treatment plans and therapeutic services.
• Maintain safety and a positive, respectful, therapeutic environment.
• Engage with families to reinforce positive partnerships and coordinate visits and transport.

Job description

Nexus Family Healing is looking to add a Temporary Relief Youth Care Professional to our location in Portland, Oregon!

This small PRTF program serves up to six youth at a time, ages 10-17 with mental and developmental disabilities who have become involved in the justice system. The program, located at Nexus' Walden Crossing, is a secure location, providing high staff to youth ratios as well as 24/7 nursing, recreational and therapeutic professionals, psychiatric services, and an array of other types of therapies.

Schedule/Pay/Location:

• Temporary Relief/On Call on-site opportunity: all shifts available
  • 1s Shift: 7:00am-5:30pm
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00pm-12:30am
  • 3rd Shift: 11:30pm-8:00am
• Pay Rate: $23.00+ per hour

As a Youth Care Professional, you will:

• Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities
• Provide mentorship and supervision of resident's daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures
• Participate with coworkers as a team on implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services
• Remain cognizant of individual client phases, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly
• Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic
• Work effectively with clients' families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; Follows established protocols in the use of family engagement and involvement techniques
• Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist in the transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, planned recreational activities

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Must be 21 Years of Age
• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must have a valid driver's license
• A desire to work in the human services field & caring for at-risk youth
• Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
• Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
• Must successfully pass a ODHS criminal background check
• Successfully participate and complete a three-part Nonviolent Crisis Intervention exam and training

Physical Demands

• Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours)
• Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility
