Job summary

DAP Health in Palm Springs is seeking a Prescription Coordinator to optimize clinic workflow, assist Clinicians with prescriptions and prior authorizations, and document patient encounters in the EHR system. This full-time, on-site role supports patient-centered care in a busy health clinic.

Ideal candidates will have Medical Assistant program graduation, current BLS certification, and experience with medication refills and prior authorization protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.
• Knowledge and experience with medication refills and prior authorization protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assists with medication refills and prior authorizations requested by providers.
• Documents all patient encounters in the EHR system.
• Discontinues medications with the appropriate pharmacies.
• Works closely with Case Management, Home Care, and Community Health staff to ensure continuity of prescriptions.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and efficiently (i.e., prescription refills, new prescriptions, pre-authorization RX requests, etc.).
• Serves as patient liaison by assisting patients with questions and requests.
• Maintains unit operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Conserves unit resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Requests and retrieves client files as needed.
• Answers telephone and relay messages.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Guided by policies and procedures of the DAP Health Medical Clinics and under the direction of the Clinic Nursing Manager, the Prescription Coordinator will play a critical role in optimizing the clinic workflow to create a patient-centered environment while assisting Clinicians and staff with prescriptions and prior authorizations.

Job Status:Full time, Hourly, Non-exempt

• Bilingual – Spanish/English preferred.

Education and Experience:

• Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program.
