Job summary

Indianhealth Center Of Santa Clara Valley in San Jose, CA seeks a part-time, temporary, on-call dentist to provide comprehensive general dentistry and oversee clinic operations.

Qualifications

• Possession of active California dental license in good standing and a DEA license.

• Experience with kids under 6 years and Nitrous Oxide.
• Knowledge of infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide all phases of general dentistry at standard of care.
• Provide routine and emergency dentistry and refer to specialists as needed.
• Provide dental education to patients and community.
• Keep complete and accurate dental records with good documentation.
• Ensure follow-up and continuity of care.
• Cross-trained for front desk and assisting duties as needed.
• Help Dental Director with quality assurance projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description: DENTIST

Reports To: Dental Director

Status: Part Time, Temporary, On-Call

Position Summary: Provides clinical services within the realm of general dentistry and gives health education information and specialty referrals if needed to patients and the community. Helps to supervise the operations of the dental clinic, supervises the dental staff, and makes recommendations to Dental Director for any quality assurance projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provides all phases of general dentistry at or above the standard of care
• Provides routine and emergency dentistry and refers to specialist if needed/available
• Provides dental education and awareness to patients and community
• Keeps complete and accurate dental records with good documentation
• Ensures adequate follow-up and continuity of care
• Learns IHC Policy and Procedures and coding
• Knowledge of financial policies and funding source requirements, i.e. FQHC., private insurance, sliding scale, Medi-Cal, EAPC, Diabetes and other grants
• Obligated to learn how to manage difficult cases & difficult child patients since patients have a limited access to specialty services
• Cross-trained for front desk and assisting functions in case of support staff shortage
• Helps dental director carry out projects as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Possession of Active Dental License in good standing with the State of California and a DEA license
• Successfully completed an American Dental Association accredited dental program (DDS or DMD)
• Five or more years of clinical experience in general dentistry
• Experience with kids under 6 years & Nitrous Oxide
• Experience with difficult extractions & complicated medical histories
• Knowledge of standard of care and updates in general dentistry
• Knowledge of Infection Control and OSHA requirements
• Knowledge and practice of Confidentiality and HIP AA law
