Temporary On-call Archaeological Technician

Position Title: Temporary On-call Archaeological Technician

About this Opportunity

Ball State University welcomes applications for Temporary On-call Archaeological Technician.

Salary Grade: Wages Begin At $14.00

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Hrs/Week: Variable

Pre-Employment Screening: Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

Position Function: Perform Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3 archaeological surveys and related laboratory analysis as assigned by Director, under direction of Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field by time of appointment.
  2. At least 120 hours of archaeological experience in Cultural Resource Management or under similar working conditions.
  3. Authorization to work in the US.

Preferred Education:

  1. Training in laboratory analysis of prehistoric cultural materials.
  2. Attendance at an archaeological field school, particularly with a pre-contact component.

Preferred Experience: 200+ hours of Cultural Resource Management experience in archaeology.

  2. Collaborate with team members to accomplish project goals.
  3. Perform, independently or as part of a team, test unit excavation in controlled manner.
  4. Other related duties as assigned by Principal Investigator or Crew Chief.
  5. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
