Job summary

Hathaway Brown School is seeking a flexible long term substitute to cover the Director of Libraries during maternity leave, anticipated from January through March 2027. The substitute will support daily operations and provide general classroom, supervisory, and other coverage throughout the School as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; experience in education or library settings preferred.
• Experience teaching or substituting, especially with Middle School students.
• Strong instructional, classroom-management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to learn library systems and digital resources.
• Commitment to inclusive community and fostering belonging.

Responsibilities

• Provide class coverage and instruction for Middle School classes.
• Deliver lessons supporting reading, writing, research, information literacy.
• Maintain continuity with curriculum, assignments, and expectations.
• Create a welcoming, organized Middle School library environment.
• Support routine library operations and supervise the Learning Commons.
