Pay Range: $19.50 to $24.00
Job Summary
Responsible for meeting the functional activity of daily living needs and activity/programming needs for residents with dementia. Function as a “Best Friend” to residents emphasizing each individual’s remaining strengths and abilities and providing a fun, warm, loving and friendly environment.
Essential Functions
- Performs skills required of a Certified Nursing Assistant related to provision of basic ADL care, nutrition and hydration, toileting, incontinent care, vital signs, and other nursing care as needed.
- Adapts care giving to build on individual resident strengths and abilities.
- Actively supports the basic rights of residents and assists with medication administration and documentation.
- Maintains awareness of resident health; informs staff of any incidents or changes in condition.
- Documents resident care, behavior and special needs as required by policy and procedure.
- Applies clinical knowledge to validate instrument readings and provide nursing care to geriatric residents.
- Participates in department meetings and education programs.
- Ensures safety of residents by maintaining a safe environment, using appropriate behavioral intervention techniques, and keeping equipment and supplies ready for use.
- Assists residents in recreational activities, escorts them throughout the facility, and supports travel to medical appointments.
- Assists with individual and small group activities in social, friendship, physical, intellectual, vocational, and spiritual areas.
- Maintains accurate resident records and enters all data into the medical record timely and accurately.
- Communicates and cooperates with co‑workers, residents, and other facility employees, establishing good working relationships with all departments.
- Exhibits good attendance, punctuality, and follows Masonic Homes safety policies.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of California.
- Effective January 2008 and in compliance with state regulation for RCFE Certified Nursing Assistant must complete medication assistance training and pass the competency exam with a minimum passing score of 85%.
- Maintains current CNA certificate and attends mandatory in‑service training.
