Job summary

PIH Health Downey Hospital in Downey, CA is seeking a Medical Assistant for a six-month temporary assignment. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience with front and back medical office functions preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and patient safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient intake and rooming in a fast-paced clinic.
• Perform clinical procedures and specimen collection as trained.
• Handle point-of-care testing and administer medications/immunizations when delegated.
• Maintain accurate documentation and EHR entry.
• Coordinate referrals and authorizations; communicate with providers and payers.
• Support care coordination and patient-centered workflows.
