Cornerstone Family Healthcare in Newburgh, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This full-time temporary role involves patient screenings, care-team collaboration, and assisting with in-office procedures to support high-quality care.

Responsabilités

• Perform screening procedures and documentation.
• Identify potential patient problems and alert the Nurse or Provider.
• Participate in care team activities including pre-visit planning and huddles.
• Assist with in-office procedures and exams as needed.
• Perform hearing and vision screenings for patients.
• Conduct EKGs and POCT (rapid HIV, HEP C, influenza, UA/HCG, finger-stick tests).
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
• Attend monthly department and all-staff meetings.

General Purpose

The MA will provide quality patient care in the department within their scope of practice, as directed by the supervising Registered/Practical Nurse.

Description Of Duties

Under the supervision of a Registered/Practical Nurse:

• Perform screening procedures and documentation in accordance with Cornerstone policies and procedures.
• Identify potential patient problems, alert the Nurse or Provider.
• Participate in Cornerstone’s Care Team Model, including but not limited to:
• Participate in Pre-Visit Planning (see Pre-Visit Planning Policy).
• Participate in care team huddles/communication.
• Assist with population management activities for assigned patient panel.
• Direct and participate in quality improvement activities within the care team and department.
• Refer phone and walk-in triage to Nurse or Provider.
• Strictly adhere to safe nursing practices, including but not limited to Infection Control, National Patient Safety Goals and Waived Testing set forth by CORNERSTONE policy and in compliance with Joint Commission and OSHA.
• Assist providers with in-office procedures and exams as needed.
• Perform hearing and vision screenings on children and adults.
• Responsible for performing the following actions: EKG’s, all POCT included but not limited to: Rapid HIV, Rapid HEP C, Rapid Influenza, Urine Dip (UA, HCG), Finger-stick (Hemoglobin, Lead, Glucose, HbA1c, PT/INR).
• Strictly adhere to safe practice guidelines, including but not limited to Infection Control, National Patient Safety Goals, and Waived Testing set forth by CORNERSTONE policy and in compliance with Joint Commission and OSHA.
• Float to other departments, as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient.
• Make recommendations to supervisors for the improvement of health care for all patients.
• Be familiar with and adhere to all clinical, administrative, and general policies and procedures as outlined in the CORNERSTONE Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
• Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff and other required meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of CORNERSTONE including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Monday: 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Tuesday: 7:45 AM - 6:00 PM
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday: 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Friday: 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM
The first Saturday of every month 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
