Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload rail cars and trucks as directed.

• Run production equipment for hydrate, lime, limestone, crushing, and screening.
• Inspect plant and machinery and report defects.
• Check lubrication and perform standard lubrication tasks.
• Assist in maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs.
• Operate mobile equipment (forklift, front end loader, dump truck) and obtain necessary certifications.
• Identify problems and report unusual parameters to Plant Management.
• Support review of quality data and participate in corrective actions.
• Adhere to Graymont safety standards and procedures.

Temporary Material Handler
3-month Term (Through 12/31/2026) - $29.60 per hour
Tacoma, WA
Graymont is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Material Handler to join our team. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment used in the production of hydrated lime, pulverized lime, pulverized limestone, and various bagged lime products. The Material Handler will also be responsible for loading and unloading railcars, trucks, and trailers, while ensuring all products meet customer specifications and Graymont’s quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload rail cars and trucks as directed
• Assure that all products meet the quality specifications
• Operate bag and bulk bag filling equipment, palletize filled bags, and prepare pallets of bags for shipment
• Operate production equipment, including but not limited to the hydrate, pulverized lime, pulverized limestone, and crushing and screening processes.
• Inspections of plant and machinery and report defects to ensure good state of repair and optimal operation.
• Verify lubrication and fluid levels and perform standard lubrication tasks.
• Assist in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance tasks on plant equipment
• Operating mobile equipment, including front end loader, forklift and dump truck. Obtain certifications required to operate mobile equipment.
• Identify potential problems and non-conformances from normal operation and report all unusual operating parameters or observations to Plant Management
• Assist with the review quality data and participating in the formulation of a corrective action plan as directed by Plant Management
• Adhering to all Graymont safety standards, principles, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Health & Safety Participation: Actively engages in regular on-site Health and Safety meetings to support a safe work environment.
• Incident Reporting: Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all health and safety incidents, near misses, and hazards, following established company procedures and systems.
• Training Compliance: Successfully completes all required training as mandated by MSHA regulations and Graymont internal standards.
• Physical Requirements – Mobility: Capable of climbing ladders and stairs as part of daily operational duties.
• Physical Requirements – Lifting: Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds during the course of work.
• Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the use of various hand tools, power tools, and other operational equipment
