Position Description

We are seeking a Temporary Material Handler to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in Pittsburgh, PA. Material handlers are vital for daily operations, moving inventory, tools, and supplies safely from warehouses to various sites. You will ensure the safe and timely delivery of materials, adhering to industry safety standards, and coordinate with tooling specialists to maximize efficiency. If you possess strong leadership, time management, and motivation, you are the candidate we seek. As a material handler, you will be a key part of our operations, enhancing efficiency, timeliness, and service commitment.

Responsibilities

1. Receive, confirm, track, store, dispatch, and deliver materials from the warehouse to work sites.
2. Lift and unload heavy pallets using hand tools, equipment, and forklifts, and relocate them safely.
3. Maintain a safe work environment and a trained workforce following best practices.
4. Perform quality inspections to ensure deliveries meet standards.
5. Keep the warehouse organized and maintain cleanliness.
6. Manage inventory lists, crosscheck invoices, and keep accurate delivery logs. Handle logistical inquiries via phone.

Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk continuously, and perform physical tasks.
• Experience with forklift, pallet jack, and heavy equipment operation.
• Understanding of safety inspections and supply chain basics.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Forklift certification and driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills (preferred).
• Strong math, communication, and physical ability.
• CDL preferred; must pass background screening.

Physical and Mental Demands

Candidates must be able to perform tasks such as visual inspections, balancing, stooping, reaching, lifting over 50 lbs., walking, repetitive motions, climbing, and other physical activities. Mental tasks include reading complex documents, reasoning, and decision-making, with or without accommodations.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to write and speak effectively in English.
• Ability to wear safety equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
• Ability to perform all job functions at the worksite.
