Responsibilities

• Finish, trim, sand, grind, or otherwise finish molded plastic parts per work instructions and specifications.
• Remove flash, gates, runners, burrs, and other excess material from molded components.
• Visually inspect finished parts for defects such as cracks, scratches, discoloration, warping, or contamination.
• Use basic measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify part dimensions and quality requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow PPE and safety procedures.
• Meet production schedules and quality expectations; communicate issues to supervision.

Gemstar is looking for 1st and 2nd shift Manufacturing Specialists to join the team at our location in Cannon Falls, MN! The position is responsible for finishing, trimming, inspection, and packaging operations on molded plastic components to ensure products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. Under general supervision, you will operate hand tools and finishing equipment, remove excess plastic and imperfections, perform visual and dimensional inspections, and prepare completed products for packaging or the next stage of production. Wage Range: USD $19.40 (1st shift) or $21.34 (2nd shift) per hour
Location: Cannon Falls, MN
Type: Temporary – On-site
Schedule/Available Shifts: 5/8 hour days (Monday through Friday)

• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
  - Overtime is scheduled as needed.

A day in the life of a Manufacturing Specialist at Gemstar includes:

• Trim, deburr, sand, grind, or otherwise finish molded plastic parts according to work instructions and specifications.
• Remove flash, gates, runners, burrs, and other excess material from molded components.
• Visually inspect finished parts for defects such as cracks, scratches, discoloration, warping, contamination, or incomplete molding.
• Use basic measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify part dimensions and quality requirements.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment safely and effectively.
• Verify product information against work orders, drawings, or production documentation to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow established safety procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and company policies.
• Properly handle and protect finished products to prevent damage during processing, packaging, and shipment.
• Package completed products according to established procedures.
• Communicate quality concerns, equipment issues, material shortages, or production problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Meet established production schedules and quality expectations.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Supports the onboarding of new team members through training and knowledge sharing
• Performs other duties as assigned for the benefit of the group or organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, plastics, injection molding, assembly, trimming, or production experience preferred.
• Experience using hand tools and basic power tools preferred.
