WorkCare, Inc. is seeking a field-based professional to deliver industrial injury prevention services focused on total worker health. The role supports a utility client and is primarily outdoors across San Jose, Cupertino, and Milpitas with about 10% travel.

The temporary position begins September 26, 2026, for eight weeks, with potential extension up to six months. It can be full-time (40 hrs/week) or part-time depending on availability and preference, with an hourly range of $37–$49.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field required.
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Must hold CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience in orthopedics, wellness, industrial/occupational health, or ergonomic experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide seamless coverage for employees on LOA and PTO.
  • Support client-facing events and ensure alignment with goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on projects and initiatives.
  • Provide triage, first-aid, education and/or escalation of care.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication with parties involved in injury management.
  • Support the injured employee, monitor care, and assist in accident investigations.
  • Assist in finding temporarily modified work within physical restrictions.
  • Conduct ergonomic analyses and provide workstation recommendations.
  • On-the-job education and coaching for body mechanics and postural habits.
  • Help employees improve lifestyle in areas like nutrition and fitness.
  • Address risks related to total worker health to reduce injuries.
  • Develop agility routines/work hardening programs.
  • Proactively engage with employees at their work location.
  • Maintain records of triage, assessments, first-aid and education.
  • Understand site operations to prevent injuries.

Job Summary:

This position provides industrial injury prevention program services focused on total worker health. Services are provided within OSHA first aid guidelines across a region at designated service centers. This position will support a utility company. Must be comfortable primarily working outdoors.

Region Covered:

San Jose, Cupertino, and Milpitas, CA (10% travel).

This temporary role is anticipated to begin on September 26, 2026, and is expected to last a minimum of eight weeks, with the potential to extend for up to six months.

Schedule:

This position can be full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time. The total number of scheduled hours will be determined based on the selected candidate’s availability and preference.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide seamless coverage for employees on Leave of Absence (LOA) and extended Paid Time Off (PTO), ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Support client-facing events by ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to assist with projects and strategic initiatives, contributing to planning, execution, and follow-up activities to drive successful outcomes.
  • Provide triage, first-aid, education and/or escalation of care if needed.
  • Facilitate on‑going communication with all parties involved in managing an injury case.
  • Support the injured employee, monitor medical care, promote efficient reporting, and participate in accident investigation.
  • Assist in finding temporarily modified work in compliance with physical restrictions.
  • Help employees prevent repetitive, cumulative and overuse type musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses.
  • Conduct ergonomic analyses in order to provide recommendations on vehicle set up, work posture, tool use, and workstation modifications.
  • Provide on‑the‑job education and coaching to help workers achieve and maintain physical resilience through optimizing body mechanics and postural habits.
  • Assist employees in achieving sustained lifestyle improvements in areas such as nutritional health, physical fitness, and stress management.
  • Address and mitigate risks related to workers’ total health, therefore reducing the risk of job‑related injuries and illnesses.
  • Develop job‑specific agility routines and programs to be implemented in a preventative method a.k.a. Work Hardening.
  • Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, ergonomic recommendations, and first aid.
  • Proactively engage with employees at their work location.
  • Maintain records of triage, ergonomic assessment, first‑aid care, and education provided.
  • Gain full understanding of the site operations, workflow, processes, and employees in order to make recommendations for preventing musculoskeletal injuries from occurring.
  • Leverage technology available to support total worker health.
  • Work in partnership with other WorkCare service lines (Incident Intervention, Onsite Clinics, etc.).
  • May be asked to take on additional time to support emergency response to natural disasters in your region.
  • Able to support multiple clients and projects as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and assume additional responsibilities as identified by manager for the efficient operation of WorkCare.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field required.
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience.

  • Must hold CPR/First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field.
  • Ergonomic Certification.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, in good standing.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to walk long distances – greater than two miles per shift.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires sitting, working at a desk.
  • Bending, stretching, and the ability to frequently get in and out of a vehicle.
  • Working under stress and use of computer/phone required.
  • Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
Work Environment:
  • Frequent outdoor work environment conditions, including exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.

This position has an hourly pay range of $37 - $49 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the final candidate within this range depends on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications.

Candidates with less than 10 years of related professional experience and less than 3 years in an industrial setting can expect a range of $37 - $45 per hour.
