Job summary

SERVING SENIORS in Oceanside, CA is seeking a part-time Food Service Driver to join our Nutrition team. This temporary role delivers home-delivered meals to seniors and assists with meal distribution, ensuring safety and courtesy on every route.

The driver operates a light vehicle, maintains basic delivery records, and adheres to sanitation standards and company policies. High school diploma and a California driver's license are preferred; compensation is $20 per hour.

Hours per day: 5 hours daily +/- 1 hour

Rate: $20.00 per hour

Bringing together a range of supportive services . Last fiscal year, we provided over 1.1 million meals and coordinated services to over 10,700 older adults.

Job Purpose

The Home Delivered Meal (HDM) Driver picks up prepared meals from the kitchen and delivers the meals to homebound elderly and eligible persons with disabilities, in defined geographic areas. The driver also delivers bulk and pre-trayed meals to congregate and to-go dining sites. Meal delivery service includes a brief wellness check and distribution of program or nutrition information. Drivers must ensure driving safety while out on delivery routes and be observant of all relevant posted signs and rules. The HDM service helps program recipients to maintain their independence and avoid premature institutionalization.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, drives a company van or other light vehicle in the pickup and delivery of meals and food service materials and supplies and performs related work as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine duties related to the preparation and serving of food for home delivered and congregate feeding sites
• Delivers food to the assigned routes
• Cleans assigned areas following established practices and procedures
• As a mandated reporter for Elder Abuse, report any suspicious circumstances or suspected abuse to Adult Protective Services
• Maintain routine records related to delivery and food service dutiesPerforms daily safety inspection of vehicles and operates vehicle to and from central kitchen, obeying traffic laws and observing defensive driving practices, wash, fuel and perform minor preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles.

Education/Experience
