The purpose of the Temporary – General Maintenance Worker I position is to provide general maintenance services to City of Austin Parkland. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform park grounds maintenance.
  • Perform trimming and blowing of loose debris.
  • Perform minor repairs/construction on assigned equipment.
Application Instructions/Job Requirements

  • Military/Veteran Preference: Must provide DD-214 or equivalent document at interview if claiming veteran status.
  • Physical Requirements: Tasks may involve bending, lifting (up to 35 lbs), walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work Schedule: May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and work during city emergencies. Schedule and locations are subject to change.
Additional Information

  • May require driving to multiple locations; must meet Driver Safety Standards if applicable.
  • All PARD work sites are tobacco-free.
Pay Range

$21.63 per hour

Hours
  • Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with rotating weekends.
  • Subject to change based on department needs.
  • May be required to work during emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in groundskeeping or general labor in a park setting.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.

  • Experience with cleaning materials.

  • Ability to operate power tools and lift equipment/materials.
