Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding is hiring to install and connect ventilation blowers on ships under construction. You will run tubing, adjust drafts, and inspect for leaks as part of essential shipboard ventilation systems.

The role requires physical work in variable weather, climbing and scaffolding, and may involve working across multiple shifts on site at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Mississippi.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and work off scaffolds in shipyard conditions.

Responsibilities

• Places blower in position, runs tubing over the ship, and connects blower for proper ventilation.
• Adjusts blower for proper draft and inspects tubing for holes; makes necessary repairs.

The Role

Places blower in position, runs tubing over the ship, and connects blower for proper ventilation. Adjusts blower for proper draft, inspects tubing for holes and makes necessary repairs.

Must Have

• Must be able to lift and carry objects (ventilation tubing ) and material weighting up 30 lbs, climb stairs, ladders and be able to work off scaffolds. Will be required to work in various climatic conditions and confined spaces common in shipbuilding.

Nice to Have

• High school diploma or equivalent with shipyard or heavy construction experience.
