Job summary

California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applicants for a pool of part-time EMT instructors within the College of Continuing and Professional Education. The role supports the noncredit extension EMT program and requires readiness to begin teaching on short notice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree and two years of professional experience as a Paramedic OR
  • Associate degree and six years of professional experience as a Paramedic
  • Strong generalist background and teaching experience in the EMT field
  • Experience in developing curriculum, revising curriculum, assessing student learning outcomes and participating in program review
  • Preference for candidates with prior college/university teaching experience and evidence of strong teaching practices
  • Applicants must have experience teaching students from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds
  • Instructor for American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • 40 hours of instructional methodology training (i.e. Firefighter 1a and 1b)

Position Description

College of Continuing and Professional Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.

The Position

The EMT temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice.

Responsibilities

Serve as an EMT instructor and teach assigned courses in the College of Continuing and Professional Education’s portfolio of the noncredit extension EMT program.

Employment Requirement and Additional Information
Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Additional Information

The Instructional Faculty, Extension Non-Credit (job code 2363) has a salary range of $104-$1,406 per session rate. The hourly rate is $16.00-$240.00. Anticipated hiring salary or rate depends on experience and education.

Actual salary is calculated by the College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) and is provided to you via the Letter of Appointment (LOA) prior to the start of classes.
