POET in Mitchell, SD is hiring a Temporary Facilities Laborer to handle cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks on-site. You will perform landscaping, building cleaning, and light repairs while operating campus equipment and supporting various facility projects.

Responsibilities

• General landscaping and lawn care such as watering, mowing, weed maintenance, trimming, and fertilizing.
• Internal and external building cleaning; window cleaning; painting rails and guards; bulb replacement; area cleanup.
• Operate POET fleet vehicles for maintenance and cleanup; support facility projects and repairs; assist with parts and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance; promote teamwork and community presence.
• Support food safety and quality initiatives and be prepared for other duties as needed.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Temporary Facilities Laborer is assigned responsibility for the commercial building site in regards to cleaning, maintenance, and process support, to ensure the surrounding environment is in a suitable, clean condition to work. This is an on-site role located in Mitchell, SD. Responsibilities include: General landscaping and lawn care: watering, mowing and weed maintenance, trimming and replacing shrubs, applying lawn fertilizers, etc. Internal and external building cleaning and maintenance; glass window cleaning, painting of hand rails, equipment or guards, light bulb replacement, general area clean up, etc. Access to and usage of facilities equipment to complete work throughout this campus. Support of general facility projects and repairs; picking up parts, assisting with equipment repair, cleaning equipment components, shadow various technician roles Operating POET fleet vehicles for maintenance service and cleanup Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times. Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as: Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, self-contained breathing system, hazardous material suit, and hearing protection. Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors. Be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all encompassing): cleaning cart and supplies, forklift, riding and push lawn mower, bobcat sweeper, vacuum, snow blower, shovel, broom, mop, and ladder Frequently: Walk on slippery surfaces Grip with a force of up to 20lbs Push and pull with a force of 30lbs Bend forward while standing Use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area Occasionally: Lift up to 50lbs, with or without assistance Carry up to 50lb, with or without assistance Be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions Since we are all about team work, you may be asked to help other roles that have their own unique set of physical requirements. Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
