Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks a temporary Elementary PE Teacher to promote an active lifestyle and culturally-responsive instruction for students. The role requires starting immediately with an expected end date around mid-December 2026, in a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and student well-being.

You will lead engaging PE lessons, support holistic student development, and collaborate with families and teachers to foster healthy habits and academic achievement across diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: You’ll create a safe and interactive environment where students feel empowered to engage in physical activity. You’ll develop students' physical fitness through team building activities; independent exercises such as stretching, cardio, and calisthenics, and structured sports and games. You’ll help students build healthy habits in mindset and physical activity. You'll teach an engaging and culturally responsive PE curriculum that meets the needs of various types of learners in your class.
• School Culture: You’ll build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard. You’ll partner with students' families to ensure appropriate resources are available to support their child's learning needs. You'll engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions. You'll participate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community, model our core values, and encourage student achievement. You'll partner with your grade level team to develop academic goals and practice instructional strategies.
