Job summary

Fairfax County Public Schools is looking for a Custodian to clean, maintain, and secure a variety of spaces within FCPS-owned buildings including classrooms and public areas.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of custodial methods and the ability to communicate effectively. This temporary hourly position does not offer benefits and works on a biweekly pay schedule.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of custodial methods, equipment, procedures, and cleaning materials.
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains classrooms, offices, and public areas.
• Secures restrooms, halls, stairs in FCPS buildings.

• Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to completion of the sixth grade.
• May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis.

• Ability to learn the appropriate use of cleaning products.
• Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
