Job Summary

Assists with the operations and functions of the Department of Plant Operations primarily to keep buildings and surrounding areas clean.

Job Duties

• Performs routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming carpets, dusting, assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
• Cleans interior glass, wall partitions and interior and exterior windows.
• Removes disposable waste materials from buildings and premises; recycles per VSCC Recycling Guidelines.
• Performs primary daily functions of cleaning and restocking supplies in classrooms, restrooms, offices, public areas and supply areas.
• Ensures proper care, use, and performs routine maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and good environmental practices.
• Perform routine floor care to hard surface and carpeted floors.
• Routinely completes set‑ups for events/meetings.
• Works well with other custodians toward timely accomplishment of group projects and team set‑ups.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 3 months of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to properly operate and maintain custodial equipment.
• Ability to correctly use/administer chemicals and supplies.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
• Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures to include disposal procedures of hazardous materials.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate a computer in order to fill out timesheets and perform other required Safety and Human Resource training.

Pay Rate

$16.00 per hour
