Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
• Formal academic courses/training in child development with applications to special education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in routine supervision of students throughout the school day within the school building and/or worksite/community environment.
• Assists students with social behavior, personal hygiene and self-help skills.
• Supports students during instruction and other curriculum tasks in one-on-one or small groups.
• Observes and manages behavior of students in classrooms, lunch areas, playgrounds and other learning environments.
• Gathers data on student performance and provides data to supervising teacher.
• Supports students with social, emotional, and behavior concerns using behavior strategies.
• Follows AACPS policies while assisting students and staff.
• Attends professional development and workshops for specialized care needs.
