Temp: Student Stage Crew Technician

All applicants for this position must have been PRE-SCREENED and INVITED to apply prior to visiting this site. This position is designed for high school students recruited to participate in the stage crew program within their current school. Please DO NOT apply unless invited by your school's Stage Crew Advisor. This position pays the current Maryland State minimum wage.

JOB SUMMARY
Supports the Stage Crew Advisor with drama, dance, music, and other high school group events. Students may receive a stipend for duties beyond their school's sponsored events, such as those by the Board of Education or community. Responsibilities include load in/out, lighting, sound, stage management, and house management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, install, and operate stage requirements during shifts or events, including hanging/focusing lights, laying dance marley, setting up microphones, projectors, laptops, and moving chairs.
  • Clean and restore the stage and auditorium spaces before and after events.
  • Maintain and organize theatrical equipment.
  • Be present throughout scheduled events requiring technical support.
  • Attend production meetings as needed.
  • Perform other related duties within the same classification as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:

  • Current enrollment at the high school of the event, invited by the current Stage Crew Advisor, with training on auditorium equipment, and a completed safety form on file.

Experience

  • Previous theatre experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to operate theatrical equipment (lights, sound, projectors, curtains).
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task under stress.
  • Good judgment, courtesy, and communication skills with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, video/web conferencing).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Must meet physical demands such as standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, and lifting up to 50 pounds, and work in an indoor environment with moderate noise levels.
